Art Jam is an annual multi-day transgender ran-and-focused festival and art making extravaganza!

It’s a space for transgender artists of all skills levels to come together to learn, grow, and play.

MINI JAM IS HERE!!

Friday April 28th | 11AM – 6PM

At Sports Basement Community Room In Berkeley and Mollering Field, Adjacent Park

Mini Jam is a creative queer experience, a bite-sized offering of a larger gathering that takes place annually over several days. Attendees of all artistic skill levels are welcome to share knowledge, try new things, build community and get silly in an environment that uplifts and affirms all gender identities, presentations and experiences. The event will provide abundant opportunities for creative collaboration and connection.

We will be offering three guided workshops and several open creation stations at Mini Jam, all materials included. Participants may attend any or all of the scheduled sessions: urban sketching, cyanotypes, and UV resin. While not attending a workshop, participants can choose from a variety of drop-in activities, including stations to make your own collage zines, jewelry, felt patches, paintings, blackout poetry, and more! Participants are also encouraged to decorate an object to give to another attendee, and the event will conclude with a collective gifting session, allowing everyone to end the day with a new friend and a new piece of art.

Mini Jam runs from 11am-6pm on Friday April 28th in the Berkeley Sports Basement Community Room (2727 Milvia St, Berkeley, CA 94703) and across the street in Tim Moellering Field. Meet us outside in the park directly across from Sports Basement for the beginning of the day! We will have a pop-up tent set up with blankets and folding chairs, and you’ll be able to recognize us from our collective’s trans flag logo signs.

Snacks will be provided but we won’t be serving any meals, so please be prepared to meet your own dietary needs.

Who Can Attend

This event is open to queer artists of all skill levels and disciplines. It is run by transgender artists and open to anyone who self identifies as queer. All attendees are expected to be trans positive and respectful of all other attendees.

Who Is Organizing This Event

The Spooky Haus is a transgender artist cooperative, and a fiscally sponsored project of Rock Paper Scissors Collective. Local to the East Bay, we work toward self realization and expression through collaborative art. As a community, we foster a sense of acceptance and social safety and provide a space that encourages exploration and experimentation of all kinds.

Ticketing and Pricing

Mini Jam is sliding scale ticketing, from $0 to $35. We ask that you select a price that is workable for you. Purchasing full price tickets allows us to offer this event to folks who couldn’t otherwise afford it, so we can all have an awesome time together.

Mini Jam is also a fundraiser for Art Jam, our annual gathering of transgender artists. If you cannot make it, but still feel the desire to support Art Jam and the work that we do, please purchase a supporter ticket. Supporter donations over $50 will receive a hand printed Art Jam t-shirt. (please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery of t-shirt).

We will have several rapid tests available at the door if you forget or need one! Masks will be required indoors and optional for outdoors portions of the event. We want everybody to feel as safe and comfortable as possible during the event, so please reach out to us at artjam@spookyhaus.com with any concerns you have about Covid safety.
